What We’re Looking For:
Are you a passionate school-based Social Worker eager to make an impact? If so, we’d love to have you on our team. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Education: A master’s degree or higher in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program is required.
- Licensure: An active license to practice as a School Social Worker in Colorado, such as a Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider License with a School Social Worker endorsement.
- Experience: Previous experience working in schools or with children and adolescents is preferred. Completion of a school-based internship is highly beneficial.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory.
Your Role:
As a school-based Social Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting students’ emotional, social, and educational well-being. By collaborating with educators, families, and community resources, you will ensure students have the tools and support they need to thrive. Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct Assessments: Evaluate students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs to identify barriers to learning and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Provide Counseling: Deliver individual and group counseling to address issues such as mental health, social skills, and family dynamics, as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or other support plans.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with teachers, administrators, special education teams, and other staff to create a supportive learning environment for students.
- Develop Interventions: Implement evidence-based strategies to address students’ challenges, enhance coping skills, and improve academic and social outcomes.
- Engage Families: Partner with families to provide guidance, resources, and referrals to community services that support students’ well-being.
- Advocate for Students: Ensure students have equitable access to education by advocating for accommodations, resources, and services they need to succeed.
- Monitor Progress: Track and document student progress, using data to refine interventions and provide reports during IEP meetings or other team discussions.
- Promote Positive School Climate: Contribute to initiatives that foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment, such as anti-bullying programs, crisis intervention, and social-emotional learning activities.
